Interesting fact….
Peace jelly babies….
Bassett’s originally launched Peace Baby sweeties to celebrate the end of World War 1 in 1918. Rationing during World War II meant production of the sweetie had to stop, but in 1953 Bassett’s Peace Babies were reborn again as Bassett’s Jelly Babies.

Poppies were on display inside the Church and outside the Pitcairn Centre for our Remembrance Service on 12th November. Our display outside the Pitcairn Centre has been the talk of the town. Those who admired our WW1 soldier during the day, came back at night to appreciate it illuminated. Lots of lovely comments have been received.
If you missed our displays click the update button below for a selection of photographs.
None of this would have been possible if not for all those who responded to our Poppy appeal and knitted and crocheted over 800 poppies, all of which were used. Thank you.
Our thanks to Diane Steel, Christine Sinclair, Dorothy Jack, Sheena Lamb, Marie Denholm and Issi Gardner who sewed and created our displays. To Tom and Nicholas Thompson who fitted an outside socket to enable our main display to be illuminated. To David Steel, Painter & Decorator, Jeremy Johnson, New Era Signs & Graphics Ltd, Calvin Morrow, Halston Engineering Ltd who donated their time and talents.
Not quite sure how we follow this next year but I’m sure we will rise to the challenge!
