Greetings from the Manse
Time never alters or changes – each minute consists of 60 seconds and each hour 60 minutes. Each day has 24 hours and each week 7 days. Time never changes and yet there are weeks that fly by and days that drag.
After my cancer diagnosis I was told it would be 12 days before I would find out the treatment plan and, as many of you know, the waiting is not easy. Waiting is rarely easy and in today’s modern and fast-paced world, waiting is becoming increasingly harder. We get frustrated when the internet takes too long to load, when our next day delivery hasn’t shown up, when the 141 bus still hasn’t arrived or when we are 12th in the queue for our medical practice.
There is a song we sing in church which starts with the line “strength will rise as we wait up on the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord.”
This is a phrase from Isaiah 40 and as I looked up different translations, sometimes the word was wait, sometimes it was hope, sometimes it was trust. I read that waiting was an action, an intention to trust and hope in God.
And so as a church, when we sing that song we declare that we will wait on God and put our trust in him. Our hope for our church and our community is in the everlasting God who is unwearied by time. And as we sing that song as individuals, we can know that whatever we are facing, be it results, healing, answered prayer, our hope is in him, creator and redeemer.
Thank you too, for the outpouring of love that has been shown to me and to the manse family at this challenging time. Please know that it is deeply appreciated.
May we each know the comfort of the everlasting God causing us to rise as eagles.
Every blessing
Louise
